The route begins in Fes and heads south through Ifrane and the Middle Atlas Mountains. Continue toward Midelt and the Ziz Valley as green mountain scenery gradually changes into dry valleys, palm groves and the landscapes of southeastern Morocco.
Arrive in Merzouga beside the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi and spend your first night near the Sahara. The following day gives you more time to discover the desert surroundings before riding a camel across the dunes and spending the night at a Sahara camp.
After leaving Merzouga, continue through Rissani toward Todra Gorges. Walk between the high canyon walls before traveling through the Dades Valley, where you spend the third night.
The journey then moves west through Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou before crossing the High Atlas Mountains toward Marrakech.
A full day in Marrakech gives you time to explore the medina, traditional souks and other parts of the city without another long road journey on the same day.
