The route begins in Fes and travels south through Ifrane and the Middle Atlas Mountains. Continue toward Midelt and the Ziz Valley as green mountain scenery gradually changes into dry valleys, palm groves and the landscapes of southeastern Morocco.
Arrive in Merzouga beside the Erg Chebbi dunes and spend your first night near the Sahara. The slower pace means you do not need to begin the camel trek immediately after the long road journey from Fes.
Your second day is dedicated to the Merzouga desert area. Spend time discovering the surroundings of Erg Chebbi before riding a camel across the dunes later in the day. Enjoy the changing colors of the Sahara and spend the night at a desert camp.
From Merzouga, continue west through Rissani toward Todra Gorges. Walk between the dramatic canyon walls before traveling onward through the Dades Valley, where mountain scenery and traditional communities replace the open desert landscape.
The fourth day gives you more time in southern Morocco. Travel from the Dades region toward Ouarzazate and continue to the Ait Ben Haddou area, where you spend the final night before Marrakech.
On the fifth day, explore Ait Ben Haddou before crossing the High Atlas Mountains toward Marrakech.
