Throughout your Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, you’ll discover several gorgeous locations, like the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, the city of Ouarzazate, the Dades, and the Todra gorges. A number of Berber towns, the Draa valley, and the Merzouga Desert desert are all traversed along the trip. A camel ride into the Moroccan desert to see the dawn and sunset await you on this tour.
A pickup from the airport or your Marrakech lodgings in the early morning kicks off the journey. Next we travel through the breathtaking High Atlas mountains and across the Tizi-N-Tichka pass.
Following that, we go on to the famed Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a walled town designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Additionally, the Kasbah has appeared in several films and television shows, including Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones. Following that, we drive to “The gate of the desert” Ouarzazate. A hotel awaits you for dinner and an overnight stay.
Following breakfast, we go sightseeing in Ouarzazate. Then, we go to the Atlas Studios, where many renowned films were made. Later we go to the Taourirt Kasbah, a fortified mud fortress. Following that, we will go to Agdz and halt in the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river. We’ll pause for beautiful landscapes of palm groves, stunning Kasbahs, and Berber communities.
We proceed to the Sahara desert of Merzouga via Rissani after lunch at Nkob or Alnif. We transfer to camels to cross the Sahara desert once we reach the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. You will be taken to the top of a large dune to witness the spectacular sunset.
Next, we proceed to the camp, which is a hybrid of traditional nomad tents and the elegance of a hotel. You may dance around the campfire while listening to the sound of the Berber drums in the open night sky. In the camp, you’ll have dinner and an overnight stay.
Early in the morning, get up to see the sunrise in the midst of the arid landscape. Following breakfast, your driver will be waiting for you as you ride camels back to Merzouga. To explore Rissani town, the former seat of Tafilalet government, we depart the desert. Rissani remains a key trade hub in the region, with a bustling souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
Following a tour around Rissani Souk, we travel to Erfoud and see one of the fossilized marble workshops. Afterwards we travel through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges. A large, red canyon with rock sides has been created by the Todra river’s journey through the mountains. These gorges are perfect for rock climbers.
Feel free to roam around the gorges and take in the scenery. Following lunch, we go to the Dades valley through Boumaine Dades, stopping at the “monkey fingers” rock formation and a vantage point on a mountain overlooking the Dades valley. Ultimately, supper and overnight accommodations will be provided by a hotel.
The final day of the excursion continues as we head to Kalaa Magouna to see the Rose Valley. Every year in May, a Rose Festival is held when residents sell rose items ranging from fragrances, rose water, and oils to cosmetics. Next we drive by other Kasbahs, including Amridil Kasbah, which is bordered by Skoura‘s palm tree grove. We arrive in Ouarzazate, eat lunch, and then proceed to Marrakech via the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the High Mountain Range. Lastly, we will drop you off at your hotel or the airport in Marrakech.
