Have a short break with this tour from Fes to Merzouga to visit the landscapes of the Moroccan Sahara desert and ride camels through its dunes.
The journey begins with an early pick-up from the airport or your hotel in Fes. We go via Imouzzer on our way to Ifrane, which is renowned for its subzero temperatures, snowfall, and mountain-style rural homes. Following that, we proceed to the cedar forest, which is home to the Barbary Macaques. We will then go to Midelt, where lunch will be provided. Afterward, we drive via the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz river to the Sahara desert.
We arrive at Merzouga in the afternoon and swap to camels to cross the sandy desert. Following that, you will be taken to a high dune to view the spectacular sunset. We proceed to the desert camp, where you may experience Berber drum dance under the stars. Dinner and an overnight stay await you in the camp.
For a desert dawn experience, get up early in the morning. Following breakfast, you return to Merzouga on camels, where your driver awaits. After that, we depart the desert to go to Rissani Town, the former seat of Tafilalet government. Rissani remains a key trade hub in the region, with a bustling souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. We travel to Erfoud after a stroll through the Rissani souk and see one of the fossilized marble factories.
Following that, we travel down the Ziz River, stopping for a panoramic vista of the Ziz Valley. The southern regions of Morocco and Algeria are home to the Ziz River. Its source is in the High Atlas highlands of Morocco, and it travels 282 kilometers before ending up in Algeria’s Sahara Desert. On our way to Fes, we then pass through a cedar grove. Afterwards, we leave you off at the airport or your hotel to conclude the tour.
