You will see so many gorgeous spots in 5 days on this Morocco Desert Tour from Marrakech. You will pass through the High Atlas Mountains, view the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, and go via the Draa Valley and Agdez town to get to the Merzouga desert. A camel ride and a night in the middle of the desert are also included in this tour.
The tour begins in the early morning with a pickup from the airport or your Marrakech hotels. Afterwards we bike into the stunning High Atlas mountains and across the Tizi-N-Tichka pass.
Following that, we will visit the famed Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a walled hamlet that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Kasbah has also appeared in a variety of films and television shows, including Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones. Following that, we drive to “The Gate of the Desert,” Ouarzazate. You’ll be spending the night and eating at a hotel.
We go touring in Ouarzazate after breakfast. Afterwards we head to the Atlas Studios, where many famous films have been made. Afterwards, we visit the Taourirt Kasbah, a mud fortification. The longest river in Morocco, the Draa, is where we will stop after that before continuing on to Agdz. We’ll stop to see the lovely palm groves, Kasbahs, and Berber settlements.
After lunch in Nkob or Alnif, we go to the Sahara desert of Merzouga through Rissani. As we arrive at the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, we shift on camels to cross the Sahara desert. You will be escorted to the top of a big dune to view the magnificent sunset.
Next we go to the camp, which is a cross between traditional nomad tents and the grandeur of a hotel. While enjoying the music of the Berber drums under the open night sky, you may dance around the bonfire. You’ll enjoy supper and an overnight stay at the camp.
If you want to view the beautiful dawn in the middle of the desert, you must get up early. After breakfast, you ride camels back to Merzouga to meet your driver. We spend the day exploring the Merzouga region. Other fascinating attractions in the area include dunes, natural lakes, mines, fossils, and beautiful oases.
We begin our excursion in Merzouga by going off-road to an old eyeliner mine. We then visit the nomads in their handmade tents. Our next trip is the Khamlia village, where you will see Gnaoua music and dance performances. Its inhabitants come from Sub-Saharan African countries. After lunch, we walk through a palm tree grove before going to Merzouga’s wild lake.
We leave the desert after breakfast to explore Rissani town, the historical capital of Tafilalet. Rissani, with its enormous souk, is still an important commercial hub in the region.
Following a tour around Rissani Souk, we travel to Erfoud and see one of the fossilized marble workshops. Afterwards we travel via the palm plantations of Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges, which are perfect for rock climbers. We proceed to the Dades valley after lunch, passing through Boumalne Dades and stopping at the “monkey fingers” rock formation and a high spot on a mountain overlooking the Dades valley. Eventually, dinner and an overnight stay await you at a hotel.
We proceed to Kala Magouna to see the Rose Valley. Every May, there is a Rose Festival where residents sell rose goods ranging from fragrances and rose water to cosmetics.
Next, we drive by other Kasbahs, including Amridil Kasbah, which is bordered by Skoura’s palm tree grove. We stop in Ouarzazate for lunch before continuing on to Marrakech over the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains. Lastly, we will drop you off at your hotel or the airport in Marrakech.
