Itinerary of the Desert Tour from Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Benhaddou Kasbah – Roses Valley – Boumalne Dades

The tour begins with an early pick-up from the airport or your Marrakech hotel. Next, we travel through the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains and across the Tizi-N-Tichka pass. There will be stops for panoramic views of the magnificent scenery.

Following that, we go to Ait Benhaddou’s famed Kasbah. It is a fortified settlement designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Additionally, the Kasbah has appeared in several films and television shows, including Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones. Later, we go to “The gate of the desert” Ouarzazate.

Following lunch, we continue our tour of the Rose Valley, passing through Skoura‘s vast palm grove. Eventually, we make our way to Boumalne Dades, where we will spend the night.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga

To take in the breathtaking scenery of the Dades gorges, we will travel through the Dades valley and halt at a location with a view of the valley. Afterwards, we proceed to the Todra Gorges. The Todra River has formed a huge canyon through the mountains, resulting in a steep red cliff-sided canyon. Feel free to roam around the gorges and take in the scenery. Following that, we travel through the Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves.

We arrive in the Sahara desert of Merzouga after a lunch break, when you swap to camels and travel the sandy desert. You will be taken to the top of a high dune to see the spectacular sunset. Next, we travel on to the luxurious desert camp where you may dance around the campfire to the sounds of Berber drums beneath a big open sky filled with stars. You will eat dinner and spend the night at the camp.

Day 3: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Anti Atlas Mountains – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

Get up early in the morning to see the stunning sunrise in the middle of the desert. Afterwards, you’ll have time to enjoy a hearty Moroccan breakfast. Following that, you return to Merzouga on camels, where the driver awaits.

Later, we go to Rissani, which is famous for its ethnic big souk. Without a question, the Rissani market is the most exciting in town. Locals come here three times a week to shop for all of their requirements. In reality, the Filala community comes to the market every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday to get whatever they require, including dates, nuts, dried fruits, spices, herbs, apparel, and much more. The local communities gather at this Souk on a social level as well to meet one another and exchange updates from their relatives and the surrounding region.

Following that, we travel to Alnif and then up the Draa valley to Ouarzazate. Finally, to get to Marrakech, we cross the Tizi-n-Tichka pass. Ultimately, the three-day desert excursion concludes with a drop-off at your hotel.
